Motorcycle Repair: after market front end, brake disc, clearence

Question
i am building a hardtail, hears the problem-i have a milwaukee twins wide glide type front end,a 84'type wheel,a 84'type speedo-drive unit and 84'type disc @caliper.the wheel came pre-assembeled,with bearing pre-load set at factory.everything went together easy.and the brake disc lines up perfect with the caliper.but i noticed right away that there is more clearence on one side of the tire/rim than on the other.is this a normal trate on all harleys?i then let my bike down off of the jack only to find out that i can move the entire wheel side to side about 1/8 inch.i dont know what i could have done wrong since the wheel-speedo@spacer that came with the wheel all fit snug in between the lowers.and yes the axle went in and snugged down just right.please note that when i said that i can move the wheel side to side,i mean that it is fine at the axle but i can move the tire by grabbing it at the top and moving it there.and-no my lowers arent moving at all while im getting the play from the rim.thank you in advance for your time.shawn

Answer
The wheel should be centered in the forks, not off set. Sounds like you dont have the right spacer for the wheel if you have that much side to side play or is wasnt set up right. I would contact the company. If you tried to ride the bike like it is you are taking a chance on having a wreck.
Good luck and happy riding
