Motorcycle Repair: turn signal problem, w 1700, signal problem

Question
Hi,
I recently bought a 1997 XL1200 sport, Spostster, (w/1700 miles on it) the left side turn signals, for the most part don't work most of the time (seems like only at slow speeds, and when bike is parked) the right side works perfect. I spent all my money on the bike, and can't afford right now to take it to a shop. Also at what intervals should I change the oil, what about synthetic oil?
Thank you for your help!

Scotty

Answer
First, check the bulbs ends for rust and make sure they have good contact. If they are ok, then your turn signal canceller is bad.
Change the oil at 3000 miles. You can use synthetic if you like. Its personnel preference, but remember it cost alot more.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
