Motorcycle Repair: Wont start-nothing-new battery-been running, safety switches, sw side

Question
1998 Honda Shadow. Been running great-not wet recently for any reason{washing, rain etc.} Bike started up with electric start in AM. Used it as normal, stopped and turned off at Post Office-{never got off bike},and went to electric start again. NOTHING. Horn works, headlight very bright.Friend says these have kickstart switches that are notorius for going bad.Wont start in neutral or!st with clutch in,nothing.Ignition on,fuel on,clean fuel, has not been sitting for long period, and no prior sounds Can I jump the switches and try or what,if its not a fuse, which I will check next. Thanks

Answer
Hi Thom,

Check the following safety switches for proper operation:

Clutch sw, side stand sw, and neutral sw.

Check the battery leads at all ends for clean, tightly fastened connections.

Check battery voltage and specific gravity of electrolyte (battery acid).

Get a copy of the service manual for testing procedures and troubleshooting intel.

I don't have a clue about what your friend is telling you. I think he is mis-informed about a kickstart switch. No such thing on your Honda.
