On my 1975 Shovelhead.I want to know what could be causing, oil to be pouring out between Pump and back pump housing. We blew the gasket, thought maybe it was old,I"ve replaced it (gasket) three times. The pump seems to be pumping, gets oil all though the bike, after running a couple of minutes, oil comes out between pump and pump housing. It actually pours out.Could it be in the Breather Gear or the Check ball? There's no oil lines plugged or crossed. Its an after market oil pump, I think its a James Pump.Thank you for your time...

I want to make sure I have the right gasket. Is it the first one on the pump side or the second gasket that is betweent he pump and the case?
Mike Hi Mike,Its the first gasket on the pump side.

Answer
The only way you cound be getting oil to come out like that is either a bad gasket or a plugged line. Sounds like the pressure is building up on the pump side of the oil pump. the breather gear is on the return side so that is not it. Your pressure relief on the pump might be sticking and letting the pressure build.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
