Motorcycle Repair: Tires, wheel bearings, green horn

Question
73 Harley.Green horn at this .need to know how to change my front and back tires.someone  said it has to be true when changing them. what ever that means please help.

Answer
First you need a way to jack up the bike. Once you have the bike just touching the floor, remove the front axle and jack up the bike higher to get the tire out. On the rear, remove the chain and axle. Jack the bike up higher to get the tire out. Dont worry about the rear chain adjuster. When you put the axle back in just line them up. You will have to have the tires changed on the rims and then reinstall them. Make sure you get the brake pads open for the disk. You can use a screwdriver to force them open to make it easier. When you are done pump the brake and they will close back. You need to torque both axles at 60 LBS. Since you have the wheels off inspect the brake pads as well as repack the wheel bearings.
Good luck and happy riding
