Motorcycle Repair: 2002 Deuce Final drive adjustment, softail deuce, axle nut

Question
Hi Mike, We are working on a 2002 Softail Deuce and will be removing and replacing the rear wheel.  Can you tell me how to replace the wheel and ensure the belt drive is properly adjusted?  Thanks,  Mike

Answer
First, jack up the bike so the rear wheel is still just touching the ground. Now remove the axle nut and slide the axle out. You might have to remove the exhaust to get the axle out depending on what system you have. Now, push the tire foward and remove the belt from the pulley. Jack the tire up high enough to get the tire out. Change your tire and put it back together. You do not have to change the adjusters for the belt if you do it this way.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
