Motorcycle Repair: Turn Signal Honda CL125S, left turn signal, connector wires

Question
I have a 1973 Honda CL125S.  The left turn signal does not always flash.  It might flash once and then stop or flash very slowly.  Any ideas?

Answer
Larry, if the right side works fine and the left side is intermittent there are just a few possibilities....

Turn signal switch contacts are dirty inside.. kind of rare, but possible.

One of the bulbs is loose or has poor contact at the base.

One of the left side wire connectors is loose making intermittent contact. That includes GROUND wires to the unit, as well as the internal ground strap in the bulb bases, if equipped. There are connector wires in the headlight shell that connect a lot of that stuff together between the switch and the harness. You will have to remove the headlight assy to access them.

One of the bulbs is the wrong wattage. Pull all the bulbs and check to see that they are all the same type/wattage. This is a 6v system, so any 12v bulbs will kill the juice on that side.
