Motorcycle Repair: 04 harley ultra transmission problems, transmission problems, gears

I bought a 04 ultra and have blown up to tranmissions and it only has 8500 miles on it. While going down the road twice now the transmission has just locked up and broken the rear drive belt. The shop said the first time that the trasmission main shaft just locked up and it just did it again. I called harle credit and told them to come get it. Is this a common accurance?

no it is not common. Harley trans are usually pretty reliable. You problem can be one, a bearing went out or two you got between gears. That is from either bend shifter fork or the spacing is not correct between the gears.
Either way I would insist on a new trans.
