Motorcycle Repair: PW50 oil pump travel adjustment, precision measuring tools, dial indicator

My son and daughter just started racing their 2005 pw50's.  I have read sveral things saying that a pw50 can be made faster while keeping it legal.  1 of those things is to adjust the oil pump to reduce the oil flow. The oil pump travel needs to be adjusted to .020" travel and I would need to have a dial indicator for this adjustment.  How do I make this adjeustment?  What is dial indicator?  Is this a simple thing to do?    What else can be done to make it faster?

I don't recommend performing such mods if you are not familar with the precision measuring tools mentioned.

Perform an internet search with various keywords of PW50 to find numerous websites dedicated to the PW50, including PW50 racing and tech intel.

If you're just starting racing, ask around the pits with other racers for intel. They can be the best source of information.
