Motorcycle Repair: electrical question, Buke just died, electrical question, sourse

Its not for a Harley, But I believe that Electrical problems may be universal,  My motorcycle simply died.  I took off in first gear, The engine quit, and no electrical lights came on (Oil, Neutral etc.)  I turned the ignition back and forth and still no response.  What could be the cause?  And how do I fix it?

I would start by testing at the ignition switch with a test light to see if you have power. If not then follow the wire back to its sourse to find the problem. If you have power then turn it on and see if you have power to the lights and ignition. If you dont then you have a bad switch.
