Motorcycle Repair: Turn signals not blinking, suzuki dr 125, side blinkers

Question
I have a 1995 Suzuki DR 125. My daughter crashed it a broke the right front blinker. I bought some after market smaller turn signals for the front so that they won't break off so easily. On the right side, with the front blinker broken before I changed anything, the rear right blinker would come on but not blink. After I installed the new right front blinker, both right side blinkers come on, but they don't blink. The left side worked fine, until I installed the new front left blinker, now the left side also comes on, but doesn't blink. The new front blinkers are LED (I think), the rear are the standard bulb type, do I need to buy matching front/rear kinds? There are only two wires to each blinker, the lights will only come on when hooked up one way, I had to try both as the wires coming from my bike are both black, and the ones on the new blinker are green and blue (what ever happened to good ole' black for ground, red for hot?).

thanks
Craig

Answer
Hi Craig,

I suggest contacting the manufacturer of the new turn signals for troubleshooting the problem. They may have a website or a call number with tech support.

I suspect you're right about having front and rear use new style before circuits will work properly.
