Motorcycle Repair: throwout bearing, shovel, clutch

Question
Mike how do you know when the throw out bearing is bad on a 1981 shovel fxwg

Answer
If you have to keep adjusting the clutch inside the primary then the throwout bearing is probably bad. When it goes out the clutch rod end burns and gets shorter, so the clutch doesnt work. You can also remove it and check it. If its bad its either burned or the rollers are missing.
Good luck and happy riding
