Motorcycle Repair: K&N air filter, air fuel mixture, k n air filter

Question
I have an ATV with a Mikuni carb 150cc its a chinese/ Marshin is the name brand. Will replacing the stock air box with a K&N air filter increase performance? Also could I re jet the carb also for more power? K&N sells these kits. I don't want to harm the engine just get a little more performance. I looked up the carb on Mikuni's web site but could not find it, it is stamped Mikuni on the carb though?

A:  If done properly, you may notice increased performance.


Q:  Also could I re jet the carb also for more power?

A:  Changes to the air intake or exhaust require tuning to correct the air-fuel mixture. Drop in jet kits may get the mix close. My experiences are these kits require additional tuning to dial in the mix. Carb tuning can be frustrating and result with a trip the local shop.

A:  Look for numbers on the carb body. Use these numbers to ID the carb model. Contact Mikuni directly. They should help you.
