Motorcycle Repair: S65, vintage honda, pot metal

Question
I inherited a 1967 S65 from a co-worker that he had in his barn for 20 years.  My problem involves the throttle assembly at the handlebars.  While dismantling the bike to replace all the cables I broke a part that I can't identify.  It is a small metal block that seems to crimp around the throttle cable in the bars just before where the cable meets the throttle handle.  I was trying to uncrimp it and it broke in half.  What is this part and how can I replace it?  I can't find the part anywhere!

Thanks,
Geoff

Answer
Geoff... the part is a throttle cable stopper. I don't have a microfiche for this bike, but the root part number is 53162-042-000, for example. The center numbers may be different for your application.
Center codes in the parts book are:
001, 011, 042 (above), 044, 045, 056, 063 and 098-010
Check with www.westernhillshonda.com for assistance with the correct application number. They are a Honda dealer in Cincinatti, OH who specializes in vintage Honda parts.
You can go to their site and search for parts by number or product code (middle three numbers). Product code for an S65 is 035.

FYI the part is not crimped on. It is machined/molded to receive the end of the cable and anchor it in place inside the handlebar slot recess, so the inner cable can be pulled through. They are made of some kind of pot metal, so are brittle and break easily. Not the greatest design in the world, but it works. Some people will change them out for a twist throttle assembly instead.
