Motorcycle Repair: honda suspension, 1978 honda cb750, fork seals

Question
this is my first bike so i'm not sure if this is normal. i have a 1978 honda cb750. when riding it feels like the front of the bike hops when riding. i don't know if this is how a bike feels or if this is a problem? i just had fork seals replaced and i was told that my steering bearings will need to be replaced in the future.

Answer
Was it hopping before you had the fork seals done? If they didn't center the damping rods or put the forks and front fended back in a bind, then the fork action will be very stiff. I usually put the axle in the bottom of the forks, to get them centered, then tighten up the fork bridge and stem bolts to hold them in place. Bringing the top nuts up to the surface evenly on both sides, doesn't always allow for differences in the overall length. If you don't check them with the axle in place they can bind, causing the "rigid front end" feeling you may be experiencing.

Steering head bearing wear either shows up as a feeling that there are notches in the bearings when you turn the fork from side to side or if they are loose, there is a clunking noise and feel when you apply the brakes.
