Motorcycle Repair: Honda qa50 blowing oil, honda qa50, ebay auctions

Question
I have a 1970's honda qa50 with 2 speed trans.  The bike has started blowing oil it appears from some sort of vent hole right at the center of the case.  This hole is right under the air filter.  Do yo know what is causing this?

Thanks Justin

Answer
Justin, it sounds like the piston and rings are worn out on that engine. The oil coming out is blowby from the gasses that are passing by the piston rings, instead of staying in the combustion chamber to make power. The gasses pressurize the crankcase which contains oil and it is blown out the little breather tube. Time to pull off the head and cylinder to see what's happening inside.
