Motorcycle Repair: 1978 Honda GL1000 electronic problem, honda gl1000, light fuse

Question
I am experiencing a problem with my GL 1000.  The tail light/guage light fuse (5amp) keeps blowing.  Recently, I had my cluthch cable replaced.  at first I blew the tail light fuse and the turn indicator fuse (15amp).  I imagined that in replacing the clutch cable that the technition might have disturbed some wires.  In following the clutch cable down I found a disconnected ground near the rear brake cable.  that fixed the turn indicator circuit.  I cannot seem to find where the problem is with the other circuit and have blown three fuses now.  What should I do?

Answer
Hi Arne,

I would return the GL to the shop and have them trace the short.

It is possible that the technician moved a multi-connector or wire that was corroded or otherwise defective and brought a new problem to light from an existing problem.

Otherwise, you'll have to locate the short yourself. It may require checking continuity of each wire and component separately.

Look for evidence of damaged wire insulation from rodent chewing and evidence of corrsion or loose connections.

The task is time consuming and diffcult.
