Answer
Hi Roland,

Q:  One of my four pipes doesn't get hot and thus not firing. I have changed the spark plugs without success. Any suugestions?

A:  Remove the spark plugs and ground them against the engine. Turn the ignition on and press the starter button. With the engine rotating watch the spark plug electrodes for an arc. You should see a blue arc at each plug.

If not, check ignition circuit from the plug, backwards thru the circuit until you locate the source of the problem. Isolate each ignition component and test following the procedures in the service manual.

I suspect one or more of the following:

1) Carb on the cool cylinder is not working properly.
2) Coil secondary lead on cool cylinder is defective.
3) Plug cap on cool cylinder is defective.
4) Ignition coil is defective.

FYI... The pipe may not be hot, but the plug may still be arcing/firing. In this case, the carbs would likely be the cause. The above spark plug test will verify this. Other causes would be no/little cylinder compression.
