Motorcycle Repair: suzuki bandit 600S R plate, suzuki bandit 600s, dampner

Question
Hi,
have two questons.  First, what sort of cooling system does this bike have, and does it need any topping up.

Second, when changing gear, it is not a smooth change, and seemd to "clump" into gear, very noisey. Mainly in the lower three gears on urban type roads. Any ideas?  Drives okay.  Am novice to bikes and still learning.  THANKS

Answer
Hi Steve,

The Bandit is air/oil cooled. The engine is cooled primarily by forced convection. An oil cooler is added and does a wonderful job of removing heat from engine oil.

Clumping into gear is common with many models and brands. A common cause is worn rubber rear wheel dampner (behind rear sprocket). Other causes are normally worn clutch and transmission components.
