Motorcycle Repair: backfire when in gear, intake leak, exhaust pipes

Question
i recently purchased a 1978 shovelhead, it has drag exhaust pipes, i took it for service beacause it was backfiring and jerking when i put it into gear, after it ran well for a few mile and again it started jerking and backfiring whn it was in gear, the jets wer replaced and was placed in Dyno to measure it's power, everything is fine but the problem persist, what or whom can i take my shovelhead to..

Answer
There are several things that can cause the problem you are having.
1. Bad coil or plug wires
2. Bad ignition
3. Intake leak
4. Carb not set right or jets are plugged
5. Short in electrical system
I would investagate all the above for the problem. As to who to take it to, I am not going to be able to help with that. I would check around your area for a qualified mech. Ask others who have had work done and they might be able to recommend somebody.
Good luck and happy riding
