Motorcycle Repair: WHAT IS WRONG, compound problem, oil gun

89 1200 evolution with an S&S 3 series carb.When I turn it over it runs for a few seconds turns off and oil squirts out of the carb. Is it a carb adjustment or a compound problem? Last season once in a while while riding, what sounded like a lifter tick would come from the top half of the motor. Somedays it would run fine. Now it turns over stalls then oil squirts out the carb like a oil gun? Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have dirt in the jets of the carb. You need to pull the bowl of the carb and remove the jets and clean them.
The ticking from the top end of the motor is common for a harley. Its the valve lash between the rocker and pushrod.
