Motorcycle Repair: Honda - Chugging/Dieing while driving, float bowl, shively

Question
Hi Mark,

I'm new to motorcycles and have already had troubles with the bike I borrowed from a friend to learn on. The problem happens after driving the bike for a few minutes, it will chug, not respond to gas, and evenutally die. If it were a car I'd say either the spark plugs or distributor is going. Do you have any ideas? It's a Honday 250, '80 something...

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Paul,

It could simply be an air intake restriction such as an obsturcted airbox intake opening.

It may be that the fuel in the carburetor float bowl has varnished a bit.

A tech would need to perform a few checks to accurately diagnose the symptoms.
