Have once again rebuilt my 69 panshovel 74" with ss wheels carillo rods 9.5-1 wisco forged pistons,poole cycle aluminum cylinders ,dual-plugged heads, flowed by mackie etc etc!Had Competition MC. in Houston install new  bike cooled off how much play was in the pushrods?Well Here I go again I replaced the tappets with Jims Big AxleS and set them up at .0008 clearance,then went to put the sifton solid lifters wich are supposed to be a light press fit! They slipped right in Jesus what else can go wrong?Any how started bike up and to my disgust it was"nt the problem Stiil loud clatter and now i beleive it"s the valve job Competition MC. did Valve guides are probably coming loose when it heats up! What else is there? Oh also i am running the non adj. pushrods with adj. in solid lifter body wich is sloppy fit in new Big Bummer Tappets,Yes the lifters are new and they are a light press fit in my used Jims Tappets,,HELP!

The clattering you are hearing has to be coming from the valve train. Since you have changed the tappets and if the pushrods are adjusted correctly, the your problem is in the heads itself. Check your rocker arms for clearence. You didnt say what cam you are running, but if its a high lift cam, did the place that did your valve job take this into account? The springs in the valves might be binding. You need clearence in the springs. Check the valve guides to make sure they are tight in their seat and that the correct clearence is between the valve and guide. Check the seats to make sure they are tight.
