Motorcycle Repair: electricial, turn signals, assit

i recently bought an 83 920 yamaha virago and wondered if you could help me the previous owner went to town on the electricial harness it starts and had headlamp but no turn signals can you help me figure out the best way to get them working ive replaced all the bulbs and made sure the contacts were clean and replaced the flasher unit but still nothing can i bypass the factory switch and wire them in myself or should i try the factory wiring and i do have a manual but it really hasent been much help so any advice or help would be greatly appreciated thanks

the only way a tech can help you is to see what you have to work with i would need to see the condition of the wiring and components and what has been altered before i could even suggest any possible solutions consider having a local tech assit you with the repair
