Motorcycle Repair: Clutch, clutch lever, safety switches

Question
I own a 2000 Honda CBR600F4. I just purchased it 2 weeks ago. I rode it for about 60 miles (1 ride), when I got home without problems. I rode it to work today (10 miles). I take care of a commercial building and I left the bike running while I turned the alarm off and unlocked the doors. The temp gauge never went above normal (half way). I turned the bike off and went inside to take my jacket and helmet off. When I went back, I started my bike and put it in gear at which point it stalled. I did it again and had the same result. It did not feel like the bike was lunging when put in gear and I could roll the bike freely in gear with the clutch pulled in. I let the bike cool for about fifteen minutes and tried again. This time I had no problems? I am at a complete loss. Please help. Thanks a lot for your time.

Answer
Hi Brandon,

I suspect a safety switch caused the engine to stall. Safety switches are located in the clutch lever, sidestand, and shift drum. Was the sidestand down?

The problem may be other. I would need to inspect the MC to tell.
