Motorcycle Repair: FLOATING DISKS, kawasaki zzr 600, bikebandit com

KAWASAKI ZZR 600 1996  FRONT DISKS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 1000 MILES AGO THERE IS QIUTE A BIT OF PLAY ON ONE OF THE DISKS.ON EXAMINATION THE DISKS ARE HELD ON BY RIVETS WITH CIRCLIPS AT REAR OF DISK.THE AMOUNT OF PLAY IS MORE THAN 1/4 INCH FRONT TO BACK AND UP AND DOWN IS THIS NORMAL
OR SHOULD THE RIVETS BE RENEWED? AND IF SO CAN RIVETS BE BOUGHT SEPERATELY?

Visit "www.bikebandit.com" and "www.buykawasaki.com" and view the microfiche parts pages to see if you can replace and buy the rivets.

I recommend purchasing the service manual. You'll find specs on service limits for parts, measurements, and procedures.

I've never replaced the rivets on a brake disc. Some of my roadracing discs had alot of play, though this was normal. The discs made a bit of noise due to the floating discs.

It may be normal in your case. Do the brakes work normally? If so, should be fine.
