Motorcycle Repair: Starter/Electrical Problem, heritage softail classic, harley heritage softail

Question
I own a 2001 harley heritage softail classic. it had been sitting up over the winter months.  i went to start it the other day and it was totally dead.  i bought a new battery and installed it.  the lights came on and the engine turned over.  i then heard a click.  then it wouldnt do anything.  the lights wouldnt even come on.  it is completely dead.  the battery is still showing a full charge.  i even charged the battery again for a while, just to make sure.  the engine still wont turn over and the lights will not come on.  any suggestions?  thanks so much

Answer
What you need to do is trace out he problem with a test light. FInd your fuse box and check the fuses to see if one popped. If one did then replace it. If not then starting at the batttery, follow the current with the test light to the switch and see where you have a short.
Good luck and happy riding
