Hi Kerrianne,

Please explain what you mean by desired results. Were the Allen bolts removed?

Are the forks still on the MC or in the steering head (triple tree)?

Include your email address as requested. I return tech files via your email addy. Please read my instructions.

Do you have the service manual? If not, get a copy. It will pay for itself with the first repair.

Answer the above questions. We'll go from there.

mark;

forks are still on the bike.
when i purchased the seals, the mechanic told us they could be put on without removing the forks from the bike, is this correct?

we've tried removing the allen bolts to bleed the oil, but no go, through looking on the net, weve discovered we need to stop the internal rod from turning.
do you know the size of the nut needed for the internal rod to undo the allen bolt, or some other easier method of removing the allen bolt.

As for a service manual, we live in the country and all the shops are shut on the weekend.

Answer
Kerrianne,

I always remove the forks when changing seals. I think it's less work to remove them.

Yamaha makes a special tool to hold the inner tube while removing the lower Allen bolt. I use a air impact wrench  to remove the lower Allen bolt. No other tool needed to hold anything.
