Motorcycle Repair: suzuki gsxr 600 98, suzuki gsxr 600, oil starvation

Question
i have recently purchesed a suzuki 98 gsxr 600 and every time i've tacken it on the highway after about 30min riding the bike loses all power forcing me to pull over, at wich point the oil light comes on and the oil symbol in the screen starts flaching at me. I've tacken the bike into a bike shop about four times now with the same problem. Its spent longer in the shop than on the road. the bike is standard except for the exhaust which i had a mechanic put on.

Answer
Hi Chris,

That engine should be replaced and returned to Suzuki R&D for analysis. Due to the age of the Gixxer, and likely out of warranty, I doubt that will happen for you.

It could be a defective sensor or other engine electronic component giving a false reading. It may be a oil starvation problem with mild bearing seizure occurring.

Can you send me a image of the shop's work orders and diagnosis?

Respectfully,
Mark Shively
