Motorcycle Repair: 1998 Suzuki Intruder LC 1500, suzuki intruder, intruder lc

Question
Hi Mark: My Intruder started having a problem last fall. I ride it to work regularly and when I got off in the morning it began to not start, especially if it was cold (35 or below) It would turn over and the lights would pulse as it tried to start but no start, and I had to get a jump. No one seems to be able to tell me what it is, I bought a new battery, even though the one in it was only 10 mos old. That didn't work.
One mechanic suggested it could be the starter going bad and to put lighter oil in it to reduce the pull on the starter. Did that, still having problems and now when I ride it on nice days it  seems to struggle every time I stop and then restart it. Friday was a nice 60 degree day and I rode it to 4 stops and on the 4th I had to get a jump to get it home. Bike runs great when it runs. I've ordered the shop manual to see if there are any answers in there.
Bought the bike in August last year and the owner is a close friend, and there is no history of this problem before.
I would appreciate your input.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Wayne,

Remove the spark plugs and describe their appearance to me. Remember which cylinder each plug is removed from.

Visit the following website and compare your plugs to the images under "Plug Problems" menu on left. "www.ngk.com/sparkplug411.asp"

Was the Intruder stored any period of time?
