Motorcycle Repair: 86 Honda Shadow — Electrical, honda shadow, push start

Question
I have bought a new battery and bike runs fine.
After a month or so I have to charge it overnight.
After full charge it will start up great, after sitting
all day the battery is dead. No luck on push start.
It seems like it would start then nothing. Isn't 1st or second
the best gear to push start? Any way to check for electrical
problems, Selenoid, starter, coil, etc?

Answer
Hi John,

I suspect a current draw on the battery when the engine is not running. Use a multimeter (VOM) in series connection with suspected circuit wiring and with the engine off to find current leaks.

Use 2nd gear for push starting.

I would return tech files to you, but there was no email address with question as requested.
