Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki 2002 LC Intruder 1500 start up problem, electrical diagnosis, intruder 1500

Question
I have 53000km on my LC. Last year I've changed the battery based on the fact that, after a few hours of riding when I stopped for coffee or to fuel the LC, its like the battery was to weak to start on its own over again. (Not on a regular basis but once in a while which is already too much. Only once I completly couldn't start the motor) )So I figured that the battery was getting old and I've bought a new one. Then a litttle while after the same problem occured again. So now I do beleive it was not a battery related problem. I didn't repair it since it was the end of the season.
Now, I've been asking questions right and left about this problem. Some people told me that:
1) it was a "DECOMP" related problem
2) or the sensor fuse attached or connected to  the side stand.
I would like to hear from you on this matter.
Regards,
Pierre

Answer
Hi Edmund,

I would need to perform electrical diagnosis to find the source of the problem. I suspect the folowing:

1) Starter motor may be loaded up with carbon powder from carbon brushes

2) Carbon brushes may be worn beyond service limits

3) Starter clutch may be defective

4) Other problems (cover all)

Get the service manual and follow troubleshooting procedures. Find manauals and see microfiche views at "www.bikebandit.com"
