Motorcycle Repair: Restoring a 1975 Honda CB125, blue spark, luck mike

Question
I recently purchased a cb125 circa 1975. It is a single cylinder.  I have cleaned the carb, air cleaner, new points and condensor, new spark plug.  When I try to kick it over, I get a good spark ( I think) when I hold the plug against the cylinder head I get a spark.  All the books say you should get a "fat blue spark" I guess I am not really sure what "fat" means?  Anyway...I just won't run.  Where would you turn next?  I have never done a top end rebuild...do you think this would be warranted yet?

Answer
I dont really work on anything but harleys, but I might be able to help. First, are you sure you are geting gas into the cylinder? If the bike has been sitting for a long time the jets are probably plugged up and the carb needs rebuild. Kick it over a few times and pull the spark plug. Is it wet with gas?
Before worrying about rebuilding the top end I would first get it running. Even if the pistons are bad it should still run, but it might smoke.
Good luck
Mike
