Motorcycle Repair: Speedometer not working, triumph sprint, clutch cable

I have a 2001 triumph sprint with 10,000 miles, maintenance has been kept up with dealer. the warenty ran out a week ago, so i guess im on my own. I have no mods and have only ever had to replace the clutch cable and tires. The problem is that I went for a ride, every thing was fine, the next day, a mile down the road i noticed that my speedo wasnt working.  Fuses and cable look fine. So the only thing that shows on the speedo i a big 0. Any thing you can do to help is great.  Thank you, Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Unfortunately, I have little experience with Triumph (and my family is from the UK).

If this helps... if the speedo is cable operated, remove the cable and check cable ends. If broken, simply replace cable. Tighten new cable securely.

If electronic, you'll have to get the shop manual and check sensors and conductors.
