Motorcycle Repair: show bikes, john harding, show bikes

Dear sir,

     We are making modifications to a '99 Yamaha V-Star Classic with intentions of placing it in "Show and Shines".  Our concern is with the method that judges use to judge the bikes.  What do they look for? How should we prepare for a Show?  Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I have only been involved in one show, so its tough for me to comment. I know atthe show I was in they looked for things like very clean, even going as far as looking up the exhaust pipe to see if there was any black soot! They also used mirrors to look under the bike. So, start from the top and work down. Make it look like it came off the showroom floor.
