Motorcycle Repair: 4 speed transmision leak, fxe, speed tranny

Hi Mike,
I have a 1976 fxe harley.
I ran my 4 speed tranny oil really low. The tranny started to make a lot of noise.I filled the tranny w/ oil and most of the noise went away but it now leaks tranny oil.  what seal did I damage? How do I fix the leak?

Sounds like you have two problems. First it leaks and now its making noise. probably the best thing to do is pull the trans and have it rebuild. You might have burned a bearing by letting it go low on oil and that is what the noise is. If you let it go you are taking a chance on damanging the case if the bearing goes out.
