Motorcycle Repair: 84 CR 250 Carberator, cr 250, bill silver

I am changing the float set in my carb and have been told by a parts counter boy that the float set is preset and I just need to install them. I find it hard to believe, and I am looking for the Answer. if there is an Adjustment can you fill me in on that meassurement is.

IF the float is all plastic, it is non-adjustable. Metal floats tend to get bent up inside a MX machine that is going in all directions at once.

Generally the measurement is from the furthest point of the float to the carb base with the needle NOT compressed, but the float just sitting up against the needle, gently closing it in the seat. Best checked when the carb is in your hand and laid over on it side, so the weight of the float isn't compressing the spring loaded tip.
