Motorcycle Repair: first time rider and owner questions, 1981 honda cb650, time rider

Question
Hi Christopher. I am a first time rider and I had a bad experience yesterday. I have a 1981 Honda CB650.
1st-I started the bike w/the choke on, and I forgot to shut it off while I was riding. I stalled.
2nd-I tried starting her up again, and I believe I may have flooded the engine. What should I do?
3rd-I also messed with the idle knob thinking that maybe she needed a little help by keeping a steady idle, since she was idling at about 1,000, and I don't know which way to turn the idle to get it back to it's original setting.

Thank you,
Melissa

Answer
Hi Melissa.
To turn the idle down, you need to turn the knob clockwise (looking down) till the idle is at the 1,000rpm mark.  If the idle is too low then turn it up by turning it counterclockwise till it is 1,000rpm.

As far as the flooding, just let the engine vent and try again a little later.

Good luck.
