Motorcycle Repair: yamaha r1 vibration, yamaha r1 2000, redding ca

i have a yamaha r1 2000. I noticed that it have a slite vibration between 3.5 and 5 Rpm. wether it is in gear riding or in nuetral sitting still. I noticed it about six mounths after buying this bike. also it sounds like i can hear my valves opening and closing, wich may just need to be ajusted, but i never noticed it before. first should I be concerd. Second can i fix the rpoblem easly, And third do you have any tip on keeping this bike is tip top shape, for all types of riding ...

That's an awesome MC!

Some vibrations are normal, but any new and noticable vibration should be checked by a tech. It may be very minor in nature, or a early symptom of something more serious.

Sounds and vibrations really cannot be diagnosed without being present and learning the source and cause of the symptom.

Excessive or loose valve clearances make tapping like sounds and is normal. No damage will occur, but try and keep valve lash within service limits for optimum performance. Lack of valve clearance will damage valves and valve seats, and usually makes no sounds.

For performance and maintanence tips, visit the R1 website link pasted below. Buy Yamaha's Service/Repair Manual. it is expensive, but an investment. Avoid other brand manuals. They seem to lack intel and are not very clear on procedures.
