Motorcycle Repair: Is the frame straight ?, frame jig, bare metal

Question
Hello Mike.
The other day I bought a piece of real state and my bike don't look so good any more.
Most of it is cosmetic like the paint, handlebars mirror etc.I can replace or fix most of it my self I think, mecanically is OK but I would like to make sure the frame and fork are straight, can you give an idea how to check it?.
Do you know if powder coating can be fix or recouted like paint can be ?.
Thank you for your time.
TONY.

Answer
The only way to check the frame to see if its straight is with a frame jig. Unless your bike has been in a wreck or it doesnt feel like it tracks or pulls to one side, you shouldnt have nay problem.
Powdercoating cant be fixed. the only way to powdercoat is to samdblast the frame to bare metal and then powdercoat the whole thing. Powdercoating will last and hold up better than paint.
Good luck and Merry Christmas
Mike
