Motorcycle Repair: engine repair, sohc honda, split chains

Question
have a '76 Honda 750k-4cyl SOHC with a noisy cam chain. can it be easily replaced? can i pull the head only or do i have to split the cases?
thanks

Answer
Frank, noisy cam chains are often a product of both the worn chain and worn out tensioners. Some people have used split chains with a master link successfully, but the proper repair is to split the cases, as the chains are endless from the factory. You will have to pull the top end, anyway to access the camchain tensioner parts for replacement.
