Motorcycle Repair: honda 250, motorcycle forks, wiring harnesses

I just got a homemade mini trike. Four wheeler rear end motorcycle forks, 83 honda electric start No kick (rebel maybe?)there are no switches or anything just a motor with some plugs hanging out of it. How can I make it run and worry about kill switches,lights tach and such after I know this contraption will work? It should only be a couple of wires hooked together, but which ones? I need to make sure I can crank it before i order custom lenth chains and all.Thank you for ANY help.Mark

Hi Mark.
 The first thing that you will need to do is to find out what that motor is out of.  There is a number embossed on the engine (usually, it is an embedded plate on the right side on top of the crankcase).  Take that number down to a Honda dealership and they can tell you what the engine came out of.  From there, you can know what components you will need to order as far as wiring harnesses, switches, etc., so that you can get it running.
