Motorcycle Repair: crank bearing, honda mr50, engine teardown

Question
My son has a 1975 honda mr50 with what looks like a bad crank bearing. Do I crack the engine case to get to the bearing? Please advise if you have experiance with this subject
Thanks
Darrell

Answer
Darrell.... Crank bearing replacements are a whole engine teardown. The bearings are pressed onto the ends of the crankshaft and are retained by bosses inside the inner portions of the crankcases.

Being that you asked the question, I suggest you get a manual for the repairs... here are some listed below on Ebay.
