Motorcycle Repair: Anti dive and fork oil, ninja zx, ray fork

Question
Hi Mark,
you've helped me twice before, hope you will again. I have an '87 Kawi 1000R. 20,000 mi. In excellent condition. Can I get rid of the anti-dive? I have a small fluid leak and the units (I'm told) have to be replaced,as they cannot be rebuilt.
Also, is 10 wt Bel-Ray fork oil ok to use on this bike? What wt would you recommend?
Thanks in advance,
Gary, Tampa, Fl

Answer
Hey Gary!

The anti-dive cannot be by-passed and forks still work properly. I would recommend replacing the forks all together. Replace them with another Ninja ZX series front end, or if you have unlimited resourses, look into aftermarket racing forks.

You could use the 10 oil. Changing fork oil is a pretty easy task. Try a variety of weights to fine tune the front to your body and preferences.
