Motorcycle Repair: gasket, ball barings, xt 250

On the chain on the front part I have an oil leak.  When I took the chain off and the other parts I have something like a cap when I took the cap off I could see the ball barings.  Between the chain and the ball baring should there be a gasket?  Have not been able to find the manual.  Thank you for any assistance that you would offer.

Hi Susan,

There should be a oil seal behind the front chain sprocket. I'm not sure what you mean by "cap" in your description. To get us on the same page, visit the following website link and try to indicate by number which parts you're referring to:
