Motorcycle Repair: push rod tube orings, rocker cover gasket, dyna low rider

Question
I need to replace my push rod tube o'rings.the bottom o'rings leak.I have a 1998 evo motor with adjustable push rods.I'm pretty shure they are sceaming eagle push rods.I was told that if i can't loosen the push rods and get them out, i would have to remove the lifter blocks.how do i do that without the lifters falling down? Also what kind of socket do i use to remove the lifter block bolts with?My bike is a 1998 dyna low rider.

Answer
Who ever told you that. You need to QUIT talking to them. You can NOT remove a lifter block with a push rod still in the motor, You have to remove the top rocker box cover and then the rocker box rocker arm support bolt for that pushrod rocker arm and shaft, first make sure push rod is all the way down and then remove the shaft bolt and then the shaft and then the rocker arm and then the pushrod throught the top of the motor. Now replace all three O-Rings on the pushrod covers and then reinstall pushrod tube and then pushrod and then rocker arm and then rocker shaft and then the bolt and torque the bolt to 18 ft lbs. Now lenghten the pushrod and adjust 3 and 1/2 turns down. Let it bleed down untill it spins and make sure the lock nut is tighten, Now reinstall new top rocker cover gasket and rocker cover and bolts. Install pushrod clip. Thats it.  JOHNNY
