Motorcycle Repair: timing/carburator, yamaha 450, float bowl

hard to turn on
runs well when choke is on
once the choke is taken off it starts to backfire
2003 Yamaha 450 only been used 5 to 10 times

Hi Luis, it is probably time to clean out the carb. The fuel will turn to varnish if left to long in the float bowl and plug up the pilot/idle jet. This is assuming that this is a dirt bike with a carb?? Good luck and remember to drain the fuel out of the carburator if the bike sits for months at a time.
