Motorcycle Repair: sticky clutch handle, marvel mystery oil, honda shadow

Question
i was starting up my '95 honda shadow the other day and when i pulled the clutch handle to shift in to first the handle wouldn't pop back out, and the whole ride i had to pull in the clutch handle and push it back out.  it was only in the 70's that day and i was wondering if there was some kind of lubricant that i needed to put on the cable to make it slide easier?

Answer
Hi Brian.
Are you certain that it isn't the cable return spring?  Make sure of that.  As far as lube for the cable, I recommend either the Duralube lubricant or Marvel Mystery oil.  The Marvel will also eat away at any rust as well as lubing the cable.  The Duralube, while very slick and good, will not eliminate the rust.

Good luck.
