Motorcycle Repair: Battery removal, battery removal, honda shadow

Hey falcon,  

I have a 2000 honda shadow vlx. It won't start. I think it's the battery. I unhooked every thing necc. to charge the battery. Put the charger on it and it did nothing. I can't get the battery out. I've unhooked the pos. lead and all the cable the honda book said, but it still won't come out. Is there something on the other side of the bike that I need to do the release the battery?

Help!

 Have you checked the fuses?  You should also, once you get the battery out, check the battery with a hygrometer.

 As far as anything else holding the battery in, there shouldn't be anything else in the way, unless the battery is just in there very tight.  Did you remove the hold-down strap?
