Motorcycle Repair: electrical, regulator rectifier, volt meter

Question
I have a problem with my 2002 dyna wide glide. My battery went dead the other day so I charged it back up..didn't know if I have a bad battery or other problems. The bike starts ok now but my horn just buzzes and my neutral light went out. Sometimes my horn will beep maybe once. since my battery problems it seems that my bike has died out a few times also when riding. is my charging system bad and if so how can I check it.

Answer
put D.C. volt meter at battery and get reading. wright it down. Now turn key on and read volts again. now start bike and at idle read volts and at idle and then at 2,000 rpms read volts and at 3,000 rpms read volts if volts are lower then 14 volts and it does not rise up as rpms go up you have a charging problem It would most likely be your regulator/rectifier. that will need to be replaced.
